Football: Barclays league division one-St Louis Suns keep battling to avoid relegation

Eddie Bistoé gave St Louis Suns an early lead in their 2-0 win over Northern DynamoSt Louis Suns had lost their last two matches and lied at the bottom of the league but on Wednesday, the players responded positively to win three vital points.

Eddie Bistoé gave them the perfect start in the fourth minute as his free-kick was deflected past goalie Jules Monnaie for a 1-0 lead.

St Louis Suns were the more hungry side as they dominated proceedings and in the 37th minute, Mervin Mathiot broke clear to set up Yannick Charlette who had only Monnaie to beat, but shot wide.

Two minutes later, St Louis Suns extended their advantage as Northern Dynamo’s captain Steve Henriette and Kevin Gomme fouled Ryan Antat and referee Nelson Emile pointed to the spot for a penalty. Jonathan Bibi stepped up to fire past Monnaie to make it 2-0.

St Louis Suns should have added a third in the 43rd minute as Gomme attempted to chest a long ball to Monnaie. Charlette though sneaked in to steal the ball but he failed to hit the target as Dynamo rode their luck.

St Louis Suns again had a decent chance in the 52nd minute after a good move involving Fabien Cadeau and Charlette to set up Brian Dorby but he shot straight at Monnaie.

Five minutes later, St Louis Suns showed some neat touches as they opened up Dynamo and Mathiot centred to Cadeau who drilled his shot in the side-netting from a good scoring position.

Dynamo, who were more offensive in the second half, created a good opportunity in the 63rd minute after a strong run by Francis Moumou who bore forward to set up Damien Tamboo who thumped his shot over the crossbar.

St Louis Suns were reduced to 10 men in the 83rd minute as Cadeau was shown a straight red card after he retaliated on Collin Tirant who had fouled him. Referee Nelson Emile sent off the St Louis Suns midfielder but his teammates held on for three priceless points which have helped them climb off the foot of the table.
