Football: Land Marine Cup-Hall’s hat-trick propels St Michel to semis

HALL… St Michel’s hat-trick heroThis quarterfinal encounter kicked off at 7pm as part of the congested fixture but St Michel were up to the task as Alex Nibourette picked out Hall with a cross and the latter scored with a diving header in the sixth minute (1-0).

St John Bosco responded in the 13th minute as Andy Gabriel floated a corner which was cleared as far as Kolvyn Ernesta whose low drive was deflected into corner.

St Michel stretched their lead in the 17th minute as Joel Barbé centred to Nibourette who fed Hall who made no mistake from close range (2-0).

In the 28th minute, St Michel were lucky as captain Nigel Freminot was only shown a yellow card by referee Emile Fred for pulling back substitute Joel Bonne who was running on goal.

St Michel went further ahead in the 33rd minute after a sweeping move and Nibourette crossed the ball to Wilnes Brutus who blasted his shot into the roof of the net (3-0).

St Michel’s goalkeeper Gino Melanie almost gifted St John Bosco a goal in first half injury time as he allowed Nel Richards’ shot to slip him but he recovered in time to avoid conceding an embarrassing goal.

St Michel pulled off Brutus at half-time and brought on Leeroy Corallie and in the 57th minute, he laid the ball into the path of Hall whose thundering shot flew wide.

St John Bosco, despite being under pressure, reduced the arrears in the 61st minute after a mêlée in the St Michel’s penalty area. Jean-Paul Marguerite scored despite Nibourette’s attempt to clear on the goal-line (3-1).

Nibourette restored St Michel’s three-goal lead by lobbing goalkeeper Adela three minutes later after being fed by Don Anacoura (4-1).

Hall almost completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute from a strongly struck free-kick which was cleared on the goal-line by Jean-Luc Marie.

St John Bosco also threatened in the 69th minute as Marguerite broke clear but Melanie produced a superb tackle to deny him.

In the 74th minute, St John Bosco’s Richard received his second yellow card for a foul on Anacoura and was given his marching orders by referee Fred.

Anacoura made it 5-1 in the 79th minute as substitute Andy Mougal pulled the ball back to him and he drilled it home.

Hall completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute as he picked up a pass in midfield and made space for him before unleashing a thumping shot past a static goalie Adela to make it 6-1.

In the 85th minute, Corallie got his name on the score-sheet as he latched onto Hall’s through-ball to slip the ball under Adela to complete a 7-1 victory which has propelled them into the semifinal of the Land Marine Cup.
