Schools mount reading exhibition

A group of pupils engaged in an activity after the launch of the exhibition yesterday

The event was attended by zone three representative Cyril Pillay, zone three language coordinator from Baie Lazare primary Charlette Francourt, who also opened the exhibition, region representative for language Agnelle Monthy, head teachers and teachers from region two.

“The exhibition is a combined initiative by language coordinators and special educational needs coordinators in zones two and three,” said Ms Monthy, who added that each school took part in creating specific reading activities as part of the exhibition.

“Once we have gathered all the different projects together, it now serves to promote ideas for other school coordinators to use with their students so it becomes more or less like a networking project,” she said.

Ms Monthy also said the exhibition consists mostly of reading activities created by teachers themselves to encourage children to want to read more.

The activities comprise different levels – from low, average, to higher reading abilities.

Primary schools that fall in zones two and three are Plaisance, Pointe Larue, Cascade, Anse Aux Pins, Au Cap, Anse Royale, Takamaka, Baie Lazare, Anse Boileau, Grand Anse and Port Glaud.
