The theme of this year’s week is Occupational Safety and Health Management System and the slogan is A tool for continual improvement.

The main aims of Safety Week are to develop a culture of safety in the workplace and community, empower health and safety officers or representatives with knowledge and skills to better manage occupational safety and health at work as well as promote safety awareness among employers, workers and the public in general.

One of the main activities of this year’s Safety Week, which will run until Friday November 25, is a three-day national tripartite sensitisation workshop on occupational health and safety on International Labour Organisation conventions and recommendations.

The workshop will bring together delegates from the government, employers and workers, strategic stakeholders in the field of occupational safety and health in Seychelles with a view of educating them on the obligations of the ratified occupational safety and health conventions as well as promoting the ratification of the convention number 187 promotional framework for occupational safety and health convention.

There will also be a televised programme on the situation of safety and health in Seychelles on Thursday November 24. The week will end with an exhibition at the Central Post Office on Friday November 25, giving employers and stakeholders a platform to showcase their occupational safety and health materials as well as sharing useful information on safety and health at work.
