UniSey’s ISCEICT moves ahead

Are you eager to surpass your expectations?

If yes, the corporate courses on offer at the India-Seychelles Centre for excellence in ICT of the University of Seychelles (ISCEICT) is the answer to your need.

Seychelles’ emerging technological culture requires skillful manpower in advanced areas of ICT. Hence there is a need to provide an opening to individuals who are already in the IT field but needs more aptitude to move ahead in addition to the knowledge they already have in the field.

The ISCEICT’s state-of-the-art data centre, IT centre and virtual reality lab will have two community information centres (CICs) in Seychelles located on Praslin and La Digue with the main centre being at Mont-Fleuri.

The perfect opportunity one can grab this festive season can be: Diploma in IT (DIT), Diploma in IT Project Management (DPM) or either Diploma in IT Infrastructure (DCITI). These part-time courses will be for the duration of three months.

According to ISCEICT head of programme Christian Servina, the purpose of having these diploma courses at the centre is to generate IT knowledge and awareness among citizens of Seychelles.

This will create a career path for those who wish to become IT programmers or trainers so as to accommodate the dynamic nature of the ICT requirements of the country. Moreover, this will develop and deliver IT education, solutions and services through a network of resources which can contribute tangible benefits.

The faculty members have been trained as master trainers at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Pune, in India, to run the courses provided by the ISCEICT.

The C-DAC itself is a national initiative of the department of information technology within the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of India. It has been set up for the indigenous design, development and delivery of the super-computing technologies for the government of India.

Since its inception in 1988, the C-DAC has pioneered the development of High Performance Computing (HPC) in India, covering Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) processors, interconnection networks, network connectivity and programming environment for scientific engineering, e-Governance and business applications.

Currently there are four trained Seychellois – two master trainers and two trainers – working alongside two Indian experts at the ISCEICT faculty.

In future, the ISCEICT will also offer corporate courses like Diploma in Networks and Cyber Security, Business Computing, Ms.Net Programming as well as Diploma in Web Technologies – Core Java and Enterprise Java.

Those who are passionate about computing, or simply curious about the functions of computers and other gadgets, this surely leaves a lot to be discovered.

For this festive season take the bull by the horn and decide for yourself by getting the best gift ever – the flair of knowledge – and join the Indian-Seychelles IT Centre of Excellence of the University of Seychelles.

Note: Applicants must pay application fee of R50 and their certificates should be verified and stamped by the Seychelles Qualifications Authority.
