More than R190,000 raised to assist famine victims in Horn of Africa |22 December 2011

A joint communiqué from the RCSS and the MFA said that the first transfer will be done to the Zonal Office of the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent in Madagascar.
 
The money collected will support people from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, who are facing a desperate crisis caused by prolonged drought, soaring food prices and conflict.
