Flag hoisting marks India’s Republic Day |27 January 2012

After hoisting the flag, the high commissioner of India to Seychelles, Thanglura Darlong, read out an address by the President of India, Shrimati Pratibha Devisingh Patil.

Also present at the ceremony were some Indian nationals.

In his speech, the Indian President stated that India’s foreign policy is aimed at the promotion of an environment that is conducive to its socio-economic transformation.

“We seek to build bridges of cooperation and friendship with all countries of the world and we constructively engage with the international community to find responses to global challenges,” read the speech.

After the brief ceremony there was a gathering for all guests.

Also to mark this special occasion, a reception was held at the Wharf Hotel yesterday evening.
