National Assembly at Melbourne meet for Public Accounts Committees |07 February 2012

The delegation comprise two members of the Finance & Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) -- its chairperson David Pierre and Charles De Commarmond, Auditor-General Marc Benstrong and Sandra Hall, secretary to the FPAC.

The February 5-12 programme is designed specifically for Public Accounts Committees (PACs) and is aimed at building stronger understanding of the role and function of PACs, as well as developing action plans for improvement.

The programme will be conducted by the Parliamentary Leadership and Governance Group of the Alfred Deakin Research Institute, Deakin University Australia.

The participation of the National Assembly’s delegates is being funded by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and is part of the Assembly’s strategy to strengthen its oversight role on government spending through capacity building of its members.
