Seychelles is also expecting several VVIPs who are flying in to be part of the celebrations.

The President of La Reunion, the King of the Ashanti’s from Ghana, the Vice-President of Zimbabwe, the secretary general of the UNWTO and the secretary general of ASEAN are all joining in with the Goodwill Ambassador, the United Nations Food & Agricultural Organisation, ministers and mayors from different parts of the world in the celebrations.

Seychelles is also set to welcome its biggest ever press contingent, who will be flying from the four corners of the world to cover the 2012 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria.

“Seychelles and La Reunion have joined forces to co-host the 2012 carnival. Together we shall be working to firmly establish the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands event as the venue for the world to meet and showcase their culture, people and beauty.

This meeting venue is set to remain outside political and religious differences. It is a meeting of people on the islands that consider themselves friends of all and enemies of none,” said Alain St Ange, the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board.
