Abu Dhabi international long course triathlon-Baldwin wins 20-24 age group

BALDWIN … 20-24 age group winnerSpeaking to Sports Nation, Baldwin said he had a “great race”, reaching the finish line in 7 hours 05 minutes 36 seconds (7h05:36) in his first race of the 2012 season.

He was the runner-up among the amateurs and 22nd overall including professionals and amateurs.

Competitors in the Abu Dhabi international long course triathlon had to cover distances of 3km swimming, 200km cycling and 20km running.

Robbie Whitaker of Great Britain was second in the male 20-24 age group with 8h03:21 – 57:46 slower than Baldwin. Belgian Ruben De Gendt finished third in 8h16:57.

Six athletes in total finished the race in the 20-24 age group.

The Abu Dhabi triathlon is fast becoming one of the biggest races on the triathlon calendar with many of the world’s top professionals competing.
