Tennis: Vijay League-Spitfire edge out Club 2000 for first victory |13 March 2012

Their victories came in the men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles.

In the men’s singles match, Sylvester Delpeche beat Maxwell Fock Tave 2-0 (6-0, 6-1) to level the series, after Selwyn Knowles gave Club 2000 the lead with a 2-0 win over Ronny Ah Shung in the first match. The set scores were 6-0 and 6-1.

Sarah Rene restored the lead for Club 2000 by beating Thara Hoareau 2-0 (6-1, 6-1) in the women’s singles, before the Antoine Hipwaye and Bernard Mein duo beat Selwyn Lespoir and Marlon Orr 2-0 in the men’s doubles to put Spitfire back in the match.

The set scores were 6-4 and 7-6.
With two matches apiece, Sylvester Delpeche and Thara Hoareau won the mixed doubles match against Selwyn Knowles and Sarah Rene 2-0 ( 6-2, 6-4) to win the series 3-2.
