Basketball: Curtain-raiser competition-Quarterfinalists known


In the men’s group, reigning champions Premium Cobras eliminated Drifters 67-41 to book their quarterfinal spot against Razors who were victorious by 62-54 over Cascade Bullets. The match will take place today at the Victoria Gymnasium.

The second quarterfinal match, tomorrow, will feature league winners PLS Hawks against Baya. Hawks easily marched through to the quarters with a devastating 112-40 win over second divisioners Beau Vallon Heat, while Baya walked over Juniors.

Anse Etoile, the sole second division survivor in the last eight will clash against RC Dynamics in the third quarterfinal match on Friday. Anse Etoile won the bye to the quarterfinal, while RC Dynamics won their preliminary round match 86-48 over AAP Brothers.

The last quarterfinal match will be played on Saturday between Angels and Mont Fleuri Dawgz. Angels qualified after eliminating MBU Rockers 72-67, while Dawgz thrashed Cadets 107-13.

In the women’s quarterfinal, HotShots inflicted a heavy 117-26 Juniors in the preliminaries to face RA Sisters who qualified after winning the bye. The match will be played on Saturday, while the other quarterfinal between Anse Etoile Stars and Mont Fleuri was played yesterday evening. Both Stars and Mont Fleuri won the bye to the quarterfinal.
