Workshop to draft code of conduct for Seychelles media |26 April 2012

The May 3-4 workshop, to be held at the Seychelles Trading Company’s conference hall, coincides with World Press Freedom Day on May 3.

The workshop will have as facilitator an editorial and media consultant, who is also a member of the executive committee of the Association of World Press Councils (AWPC).
According to a communique from the SMC, the code of conduct will set standards for the media industry through self-regulation.

In view of this, the SMC is taking a consultative approach to the drafting process and has invited the local media and stakeholders in the industry to take part in the workshop.

Members of the public too are being encouraged to make proposals on what they would like to have in the code of conduct.

All proposals must be made in writing and should reach the secretariat of the commission not later than 4pm on Wednesday May 2, 2012.

Proposals may be forwarded either by post to the Seychelles Media Commission, P. O. Box 1501, Victoria or by email to smc@seymediacom.org or by fax on 422 4561.
