Indian President Patil’s visit in pictures

Mrs Patil held talks with President James Michel and Vice-President Danny Faure, addressed a special session of the National Assembly and witnessed the signing of a number of important agreements between her country and Seychelles.

She also attended a special reception hosted in her honour by President Michel and First Lady Natalie Michel at State House on Monday where she announced India has given Seychelles US $25 million and a line of credit for US $50 million.

On Tuesday she planted a coco der mer nut at the botanical gardens, and before leaving the same day, she went to the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces hangar where she met Indian staff and Seychellois soldiers who man the surveillance Dornier aircraft on loan to Seychelles from India.

She was also guided through an exhibition showing how the air wing works by commander Anubhav Kumar and the Minister for Home Affairs and Transport Joel Morgan.

Indian and Seychellois dignitaries described the visit as historic, based on longstanding ties which it served to strengthen future cultural, business and commercial cooperation between the two countries

Published here is a selection of the pictures our photographers Joena Bonnelame, Patrick Joubert and Louis Toussaint took during the visit.
