Boxing: Olympic Qualification, Casablanca, Morocco -Allisop lose semis to win bronze |08 May 2012

Already qualified for the London Games in August, Allisop lost his semi-final bout on points – 8-16 – to Tunisian Ahmed Mejri on Saturday.

Mejri went on to win the gold medal in the category, by beating Abdelkader Chadi of Algeria in the final.

Still on Saturday, Ronny Legras lost his +91kg bout by RSC against Madiam Ahmed of Egypt, to finish fifth in the group.

With the bronze medal, Seychelles share the 13th overall spot on the medal table with three other countries – Burkina Faso, Gabon, and Mozambique – who also won a bronze medal each.

Seychelles’ other boxers at the tournament were welter weight (69kg) Kitson Julie who lost on points -– 13-16 – to South African Siphiwe Lusizi and Jovet Jean who also lost on points, 6-11 to Vidal Gaieta of Angola. The boxers were accompanied by coaches Jerry Legras and Igor Kolesnikov.
