Electoral forum to meet today |23 May 2012

The forum will continue to hear reactions on the proposed recommendations made by the Office of the Electoral Commission on the proposed amendments to the Public Order Act.
Last week’s session (on Wednesday May 16) heard follow-up reactions on the 12 proposed recommendations made the week before by the Office of the Electoral Commission on the proposed amendments to the Public Order Act.

At last week’s session the forum also heard a submission of the Seychelles Freedom Party (SFP) on the Elections Act presented by party leader Christopher Gill.

The submission focused on a series of issues addressing the rights of voters, credibility of the voters list, the holding of elections, building the capacity of the Electoral Commission, funding and administrative support for political parties, access to national media outside the campaign period, membership of political parties and civil society on the Electoral Commission, and also the implementation of the Commonwealth recommendations.
