Athletics-Six leave today for regional tourney |25 May 2012

The Seychelles Athletics Federation’s choices for the youth (under-18 years old) regional meet are male 400m runner Aaron Tirant, female 400m runner Ezra Almaze, female javelin throwers Aicha Cushion and Marie-Helen Rose, male hammer thrower Dean William and female sprinter Diane Nioze who will line up in the blocks of the blue-ribband 100m race.

The athletes are accompanied by coaches Alexander Rodriguez and Joseph Volcy, who is also the head of delegation.

The championships will be held on Sunday May 27 and the delegation will return on Tuesday May 29, 2012.

A lot is expected of Marie-Helen Rose after she clinched three medals – two silver and a bronze – at the CAA Southern Region Junior Championships which took place in Windhoek, Namibia last month.

Rose won silver in shot put with 11.75 metres and javelin with 30.81 metres, while her bronze medal came in discus where she threw 31.45 metres at the junior (under-20 years old) championships.
