Charity body hosts second blood donation campaign |14 June 2012

JJ India, a non-governmental organisation based in Seychelles, has been active in the country since its inception last year and has organised total knee replacement and spine clinics at the Seychelles Hospital with the active collaboration of the Ministry of Health.

“All the patients have recovered of the ailment treated and their quality of life has improved considerably,” says Surya Khanna of JJ India.

Mr Khanna says that JJ India, though registered in India, has adopted Seychelles for its activities in health, education and tourism sectors.

The foundation plans to organise more such camps and clinics where specialists from overseas are brought to Seychelles to carry out specialised surgeries and outpatients consultations for free.

“The patients have the advantage of getting top class treatment of international standards without having to travel overseas away from home and from their loved ones,” says Mr Khanna.

He says that all the experts brought in are very high level internationally recognised professionals.

Mr Khanna says besides health clinics, the foundation organises yoga sessions to train participants and after seven days’ session one can practice yoga at home without any assistance.

Consultations on yoga through emails are available free of cost to the participants.

Mr Khanna notes that although JJ India has limited resources, it is able to carry out its social activities thanks to its sponsors.

For example, after giving blood, each donor is given a big packet of juice and a voucher which entitles him or her to attend free of charge the yoga sessions organised by the foundation. The normal cost of attending a yoga session is R500.00.

Mr Khanna is urging local people to join the foundation as volunteers and assist in its charity activities. Those interested can contact JJ India through khanna@seychelles.net or telephone 2525363.
