Three long-serving retirees rewarded |05 July 2012

The three retirees -- Eric Arnephy from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports, Jessy Marie from the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), and Gemma Barbier from the Ministry of Health -- were received at State House last week by Vice-President Danny Faure.

Also present were representatives of the said ministries, who included the principal secretary (PS) for community development and sports Denis Rose, PS for health Veronique Laporte, PS for public administration Jessie Esparon and the chief executive of the SCAA Gilbert Faure.

VP Faure thanked the retirees on behalf of President James Michel and on behalf of the public, who he said have certainly benefited from such devoted workers, who he described as “examples to the youth”.

Mr Faure described how he has personally met and worked with each of them over the years and recounted his experience in their workplaces.

Each retiree gave a short recount of their careers. Mr Arnephy said his greatest achievement was playing a major role in organising the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games held in Seychelles last year.

Ms Barbier said that as a nurse, her greatest pride was in saving lives, and told some stories of how patients who had recovered is till today showing their gratitude and acknowledging her.

Ms Marie said that she had always put her work first and has asked young people to also put their career as a priority and that there will always be good and bad days, but to take each day as its own reward.

Mr Faure gave each retiree a token of appreciation and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
