“My first two albums were produced on a contract and in reality I wasn’t really satisfied with the end product,” he said.

“This time, I’ve written and recorded my own stuff at my studio on Praslin. The only thing done on Mahe is mixing.”

Ambitious refers to himself as his own producer and says he managed to learn the whole process on his own.

As to his favourite track on the album he is adamant that he loves each one of them.

“Although I think Repoz Mon Leker is one that a lot of people can relate to. Anybody going through issues right now and want to be left alone will understand the message. I suppose it’s also a phase we all have to go through at some point,” he said, adding the album is a mixture of Reggae, Dancehall and a little Caribbean tune altered to produce a more local vibe.

“The message of my album is love – but from a realistic point of view. I say it how it is and try to portray love in its real sense without the rose-coloured glasses on,” said Ambitious, who added that he is planning to stage a show sometime between mid-August and the end of September.

“It’s definitely in the works and I want to include my brothers – Champion, Philip Barra and Humble Man – in the show.  In fact Humble and I are supposed to be going to Praslin for a video clip shooting of one of his songs. He’s helped me a lot throughout my career as an artist and in general so now it’s my turn to return the favour.”

“I just want to conclude by sending a big shout out to my fans, those who have stuck by me and supported me during those last few years despite not producing any new material and I want to continue emphasising the need to buy original CDs and continue to support our local artists,” concluded Ambitious.

The 15-track album is on sale in all usual outlets on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
