New yacht charter to stage first boat show

Seychelles Yacht Charter, which owns a five-star luxury catamaran, the Nkalindau and the smaller Riviera uShaka for fishing, hopes to showcase them along with another super yacht at the Konoba near the Angel Fish Marina at Eden Island for a week, starting September 15 where a reception will launch the event.

Lynn Gower, the company’s manager for sales and marketing, told Nation that the boat show is being organised with the support of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB).

She is contacting the travel agents, hoteliers and other tourism operators as well as embassies in a bid to get them involved in promoting the boat charter business.

“It must be one of the greatest vacations to be waking up every morning at a different place, especially when that is a tropical paradise, offering superb snorkelling and relaxation,” said Lynn.

She said that despite the threat posed by Somali pirates -- which have reduced access to the outer islands, such as the Amirantes, the granitics, such as Praslin, La Digue, Curieuse and others – yachting offer tremendous potential for good vacations.

She is of the view that the boating business in Seychelles is not being marketed sufficiently, and that is where the boat show comes in.

She explains that the company is a brokerage one for all yachts, and is not limited to their two new vessels which have been commissioned in Australia.

Nkalindau has a sleeping capacity of eight while uShaka can take six for fishing trips.
