“Ploughing the soil and planting endemic coastal trees at Anse Severe at La Digue is a beautiful reminder of the symbolic partnership and growing future between Seychelles and Mauritius,” said Mr Choonee.

The tree planting ceremony – which took place in the presence of Benjamine Rose, the principal secretary for Culture; Raymonde Onezime, the special advisor for Culture to Minister St Ange, and Chantal Ghislain, the elected Member of the National Assembly for La Digue – also marked a new beginning and an exciting future between the two countries.

“In time, these trees will grow tall and strong and will rehabilitate the Anse Severe coastal zone for future generations,” said Mr St Ange.

Mr Choonee is now listed as one of the high dignitaries visiting Seychelles to have contributed to Seychelles’ continued commitment to protecting the environment and rehabilitating its coastal zone.
