Darts-Hermitte wins Association singles contest |21 August 2012

In the final, Hermitte met Terrance Hallock and took the first game. Hallock then drew level and even took the lead at 2-1. Sensing danger, Hermitte redoubled his efforts and it was no surprise to see him claim three games in a row to finish on top on a 4-2 score, thus relegating Hallock to the runner-up position.

Hermitte was one of four players, along with Ranga Chetty, Alex Chetty and Percy Quatre, who progressed from pool A to the knockout phase where he knocked out Reuben Port-Louis 2-1 in the quarterfinal.

His semifinal encounter against Percy Quatre, who had eliminated Paul Vidot 2-1 in the quarterfinal, was equally interesting as he came from two sets down to win the best-of-five encounter 3-2.

Losing finalist Hallock whitewashed Alex Chetty 2-0 in the quarterfinal and edged Ranga Chetty 3-2 in the semifinal.

In the third place play-off match, Ranga Chetty earned a 3-1 win against Quatre.

The 16 players played in two pools of eight and the top four progressed to the quarterfinals.

Bernard Berlouis and Terrance Hallock finished with the highest score of 180.
