Seychelles mourns passing of Ethiopian prime minister |23 August 2012

In a letter sent to the deputy Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, President Michel extended the condolences and solidarity of the Seychellois people and of the government during this time of national grief.

“Prime Minister Zenawi was a man of principles and integrity, a courageous leader who leaves behind a lasting legacy for Ethiopia and Africa as a whole,” writes President Michel.

“His dedication to his country and to the continent was admirable and he will be deeply mourned by all who knew him,” continued President Michel.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi died late on Monday after a long illness in a Brussels hospital at the age of 57. His body arrived at Addis Ababa airport yesterday on board an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
