Table tennis-Kids’ training camp going on well |24 August 2012

“This will help prepare and train them for upcoming competitions,” association chairman Francis Remie told Sports Nation.

He added that the African Championship and a local competition in December are among the meets the young players are getting ready for.

“We have around 30 to 40 kids taking part this time round and they seem to be enjoying themselves a great deal,” added Mr Remie.

Two coaches – Seychellois Jimmy Vel and Hungarian Istvan Chikan – are running the training sessions until next week.

Coach Chikan said the three-week training also includes other activities such as warming up and cardiovascular exercises.

“The children did some exercises at the beach on Wednesday,” he said, adding that they enjoyed the exercises which will surely help improve their table tennis skills.
