Tourism industry members and minister to meet |05 September 2012

The meeting is being organised by the ministry and the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) in collaboration with the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA) for all members of the industry’s association and also for everyone involved in the tourism trade.

STB chief executive Elsia Grandcourt will also be there.

The ministry said the meeting is not only meant to recognise the players’ importance, but it is also to hear them and for them to better understand the ministry’s role, for them to appreciate the efforts of the tourism board and to hear about the work the association does on behalf of the industry.

“Tourism is the business of every Seychellois and as such it is important for everyone to understand the need to work for the consolidation of the industry,” said Mr St Ange.

He said the tourism industry meetings will take place as combined regional meetings over a few days on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

The first meeting has been scheduled tomorrow at Le Méridien Barbarons from 1.30 to 4pm for tourism industry members of the south and west Mahé.
Following the first meeting, tourism trade members from the east, central and northern regions of Mahé will meet on Friday September 7 from 9am to 12noon at the National Theatre at Mont Fleuri.

The meetings will continue the following week on Praslin and La Digue.

On Praslin, it will be held on September 10 from 9am to 12noon at the Tante Mimi Restaurant, while the La Digue meeting will be on September 11 from 9am to 12noon at the district administration office.

The meetings will also allow Mr St Ange to inform and update Seychelles’ tourism members on his ministry’s plan for the industry, and to “touch base” on the latest happenings of the country’s tourism industry.

It will also be used as a platform for the STB to share its marketing plans and projects with the tourism trade.
