The workshop is being led by a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative in Seychelles Vincent Okullo at the Sheikh Khalifa diagnostic centre.

Organisations being represented there include the Seychelles National Youth Council, Ministry of Education, department of social affairs, Ministry of Health, Youth Health Centre and non-governmental organisations.

Youth Health Centre manager Judy Brioche said the workshop aims to bring all partners involved together to reach a common ground and to see if these organisations are meeting the needs of the young people in the services being offered.

She said it is expected that those taking part in the workshop come up with a standard package on health services being offered to young people.
This will be presented to policy makers who will be able to add their input to it.

During the first session, those taking part were able to share their expectations of the workshop and they were also briefed on its aim and objectives.

The topics to be covered include young people’s health, the current national situation, the youth friendly services concept and barriers preventing youths from getting health services among others.
The workshop is being organised by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the UNFPA.
