The new bus shelter was sponsored by the Yangtze Construction Company, after the Lion’s club sought sponsorship for the project.

Present at the handover ceremony on Saturday were Lion’s club district governor Varish Sheikh, acting chief executive of the Seychelles Land Transport Agency Parinda Herath and district administrator Rachel Spiro.

The LCPS president Murugaiyan Pugazhendhi, district governor advisor Narasimhan Ramani, other members of the club and representatives from the Yangtze construction company were also present.

Thanking the Lion’s Club and the sponsor, Ms Spiro said the bus shelter will be of great benefit not only to the residents but to the students of the district’s schools and the tourists.

A time-table for bus routes and a map of Mahe have also been put up at the shelter which Ms Spiro said will be especially useful to the tourists.
