Family visits start for convicts on Marie-Louise |20 September 2012

A communiqué from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Transport said family members who made the visit had been chosen by the prisoners themselves.

In all, there were around 50 family members -- comprising parents, spouses and siblings, as well as children of the prisoners -- who visited the inmates, the communiqué said.

“The family members had been called and informed of the visit in advance and the maintenance of order and compliance, which was observed by all visitors and prisoners, ensured a smooth and well coordinated day,” added the communiqué.
