FTC conducts review of businesses |24 September 2012

“It is not the aim of the FTC to frustrate any business but rather to promote the efficiency and competitiveness among businesses. The general review therefore also acts as a form of advocacy to enterprises as to the type of conduct restricted under the Fair Competition Act 2009,” says a communiqué from the FTC.

“The fact that the Commission carries out such reviews does not mean that the businesses are guilty of anti-competitive behaviour and the Commission also respects the rights of any business with regards to sensitive business information,” adds the communiqué.

The FTC is an independent body established under Section 3 of the Fair Trading Commission Act, 2009 to enforce laws relating to consumer protection and fair competition.

One of the objectives of FTC is to ensure the proper and efficient functioning of markets for the benefit of consumers and the economy of Seychelles.
