Buoys laid to secure safety of bathers-Ile Persévérance beach

Laying the buoys Wednesday afternoon

The red, green and yellow buoys were laid Wenesday afternoon by the Seychelles Maritime Safety Administration (SMSA) in the presence of officials of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Community Development and Sports.

Also present was the district administrator for Ile Persévérance II, Doris Esther
Community Development special advisor Dan Frichot said the buoys replace a set of temporary ones.

He said that the committee harmonising public services on Ile Persévérance had felt the demarcation was a serious concern as there is a sudden drop in depth of the sea at this point.

The deep part is turquoise blue and though a delight to swimmers, it can constitute a safety hazard to infants and others unaware of the ocean depth in this area.
