Chionni powers to September Mug win-Golf

The hot and steamy day did not dampen the golfers’ spirits or the fine scores that were recorded, with Stefano Chionni – a 21-handicap player – shooting a sublime back nine score of 40 gross (29 net) to return with a total score of 62 net for a deserved victory.

Second place went to Louis Vandagne with a net score of 65, while David Deltel took third place.

After nine holes, it was David Deltel – playing off an 8-handicap – who set the pace with a fine even par gross score of 34 (30 net).

Lurking in the background were two or three other players who also shot solid front nine scores, including the ever-present Vandagne and Chionni.

Deltel was the first golfer to enter his card, which returned a total score of 66 net on the par 68 course. It was then a waiting game.
It was marketing manager of Barclays Bank (Seychelles) Sonny Barra who presented Stefano Chionni with his crystal mug.

The monthly tournament portrays the bank’s faithful support to golf on the islands, covering many years of partnership with the Seychelles golf club.
