Damage to SEAS fibre optic cable |12 October 2012

The primary signs are that the cable has been damaged by an anchor from a ship off the coast of Tanzania and about 15km from the cable landing station there. 

The process for responding to such an event has been activated by SCS to ensure that the repair is done as soon as possible and service returns back to normal.

SCS will communicate any further news once more is known concerning the repair status.

Meanwhile, telecommunications company Airtel has announced that it has moved all its traffic through VSAT to ensure continued connectivity for its customers.
