Golf-Cable & Wireless tournament a massive success – everybody wins!

From left to right: Bruce Horner, Eddie Micock, Cable & Wireless chief executive Hammond, Jemmy Esther, D. Morin, Cable & Wireless PR manager Terry Servina, and club captain David Deltel

They held off to win with a total combined net score of 109 – the same total as the team of Charlie Morin, Joe Andrade, L. Charles and Alex Ellenberger who settled for second place on a countback.

Third place was earned by the team of David Deltel, Francis Mondon, Axel Andrade and Joe Elisa with a combined net score of 113.

Taking the shape of its customary scramble format, 11 teams of four teed off at 1:30pm on Saturday, all dressed in their brand new Cable & Wireless golf shirts and equipped with a desire to win.

Each team of four were asked to split into two pairings with the overall team score being the two net pairing scores added together.

It was clear from the start that the company’s ‘fun for everyone’ objective was not only going to be met, but exceeded as cries of excitement echoed around the ground as birdie after birdie dropped into cups.

However, nothing matched the roar that Jemmy Esther let out when he holed out on a par 4 from the fairway for eagle!

The hot October sun could not stop the fine team performances and when the last group came in it was clear that it would take a brilliant score to take the honours!

After a close look at the scorecards, the team of Jemmy Esther, Eddie Micock, D. Morin and Bruce Horner held off to win with a total combined net score of 109. Also on 109, but losing on the count back, was the team of Charlie Morin, Joe Andrade, L. Charles and Alex Ellenberger who settled for second.

On hand to deliver the impressive prizes to the winners was Cable & Wireless chief executive Charles Hammond who thanked all the players for the fantastic turnout and the spirit in which the tournament was played.

He also went on to confirm that Cable & Wireless would continue to be a major sponsor of golf in Seychelles.

As dusk settled on the greens and fairways of the Seychelles golf club, the 2012 Cable & Wireless tournament was already cementing itself into the memory banks of those who were lucky enough to be a part of it. Everybody felt like winners.
