10-November-2012

Mr DaCosta arrived here on October 25 and is expected to leave on December 1. The training sessions are taking place at the NSC Hall.

Master DaCosta started studying martial arts in 1968. He has mastered in Yang Taichi Chuan, Shaolin Chuan, and Tibetan White Crane.

In 1984, he was given permission to teach all two systems of kung-fu – Shaolin Chuan and Tibetan White Crane.

Since then, he has taught in the United States and Europe, and has also appeared on Spanish TV (REDES) offering his insights into martial arts, and preformed Tai Chi Chuan on Danish TV. Master DaCosta can teach from many perspectives at many levels.

Shaolin Chuan and Tibetan White Crane are very complexed systems that incorporate many styles. Shaolin Chuan made Master DaCosta an expert in ground fighting, snake, and stork styles. Tibetan White Crane made him an expert in Chinese boxing, and Yang Taichi made him an expert in internal and fighting.

Today, Sifu DaCosta is combining martial arts with a spiritual discipline of warrior-ship (from Buddhist, Taoist, and Christian perspectives).

Sifu DaCosta first got in touch with the local wushu family in China in 2010 when Laushi Jocelyn Cupidon and Laushi Seddick Fanny-Al-Abdulla took part in the 8th Zhengzhou China International Shaolin Wushu Festival.

In this year’s 9th Zhengzhou China International Shaolin Wushu Festival, Seychelles was represented by Laushi Jocelin Cupidon and Seychelles Wushu Association chairman Lewis Bristol who each won a bronze medal in the male group C.

They took part in the Quanshu competition held at the Zhengzhou Number 47 Middle School stadium in China.

The Seychelles Wushu Association would like to thank the Chinese Embassy and The National Sports Council for their sponsorship.
