Tourism and foreign affairs get same offices in London

(From l to r): Minister St Ange, high commissioner Lloyd, STB European director Bernadette Willemin, Mr Silver, and STB’s chief executive Elsia Grandcourt

The country’s two official offices, which were operating in different locations in central London, will now operate from their new Knightsbridge address.

The Seychelles high commission has already moved into the new office since September and will be joined by the STB in three weeks’ time.

This new cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture was celebrated last Monday night in a Seychelles cocktail as a side event of the World Travel Market in London.

Present at the event were Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St Ange, Seychelles’ new high commissioner in London Marie-Pierre Lloyd, Seychelles consul in London Bernard Silver, staff of both the STB and the Seychelles high commission as well as members of the Seychelles trade and other UK partners.

Addressing the guests, Minister St Ange welcomed the new move by the government to bring the country’s two official offices together and said this would help maximise the use of resources and bring better benefits to both organisations.

High commissioner Lloyd said she is looking forward to the new cooperation as they have the common goal of representing Seychelles.

Minister St Ange also thanked Seychelles’ consuls – Mr Silver and Justin Etzin – for their continuous help in raising the profile of Seychelles, both as a country and as a tourism destination. Mr Silver has worked closely with the STB to bring about this new level of cooperation.

Minister St Ange also took the opportunity to thank all the trade partners for their support on the UK market during 2012 and said he hopes they would use the WTM 2012 to launch new discussions for next year.

The new address for the high commission and Seychelles tourist office is: 4th Floor, 11 Grosvenor Crescent, London, SW1X 7EE.
