FPAC members enhance public finance management capacity |15 November 2012

FPAC chairperson David Pierre led the delegation which also comprised Nichole Barbé, Sebastien Pillay and Lenny Lebon to the seminar held in Cape Town, South Africa from November 5-9, 2012.

The FPAC made a presentation on the current financial and oversight procedures being implemented in Seychelles.

The delegation noted that compared to other African countries, Seychelles has its Auditor General Act, 2010 which makes provision for the independence of the auditor general.

Parliamentarians from Cameroon, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe also attended the seminar organised by the African Development Bank.

The seminar was an opportunity for our parliamentarians to enhance their capacity to effectively perform accountability and oversight roles, particularly in public finance management.

The parliamentarians were also enlightened on their roles in the budget process and in anti-corruption drives.
