Central Bank to host anniversary lecture tomorrow |29 November 2012

The theme for this year is "The Exchange Rate Regime and Economic Development – The Case for Small Island Developing States", and the guest speaker will be Dr Atish R. Ghosh, the assistant director and chief of the Systemic Issues Division, in the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund.

Dr Ghosh is excited at this opportunity since the topics of exchange rate regime and macroeconomic performance have been of research interest to him for many years.

The reasons for choosing a particular regime and their implications will be of prime focus.

The theme for the year fits in well with recent developments and challenges faced within the domestic foreign exchange market including the adverse impact of such on inflation.

“This year’s Anniversary Lecture continues with the aim of providing a forum for discussion concerning topical economic issues pertaining to Seychelles,” says the Central Bank Governor, Caroline Abel.

Governor Abel hopes that the lecture will not only prove informative to the guests, the public and staff members, but that it also encourages discussions on the current economic climate and on future possibilities given further economic development and the exchange rate regime choice of Seychelles.

In view of limited places, admission to the event will be strictly upon presentation of an invitation card. Hence, members of the public wishing to attend should collect an invitation card at the Central Bank. For more information, call 4282004 or 4282006.
