AG’s office asks for criminal probe into L’Union Estate |29 November 2012

Taking serious note of the allegations against some officials of the L’Union Estate company, the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment had sought legal opinion of the Attorney General on the findings of its internal audit division which showed financial irregularities.

The Attorney General’s chamber, after examining the said report, has given its opinion that the report discloses prima facie evidence that criminal offences have been committed.

The Attorney General’s chamber has therefore advised the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment to forward the said report to the police in order for the latter to carry out a full criminal investigation into the alleged irregularities, after which it will consider instituting criminal prosecution against the person(s) involved.
