Open day promotes healthy lifestyles

The open day was one of the many activities organised during the month of December by the ministry to inform the public about its services and to encourage a healthier lifestyle among the population.

Addressing those present, Minister for Health Mitcy Larue said the strong message being sent out to the public is many health conditions can be prevented through healthy lifestyles.

Mrs Larue thanked all staff for their hard work and commitment during the year 2012.

“However, we are very much aware that we still face many challenges and I believe that with your hard work and commitment these will be overcome in 2013,” she said.

Mrs Larue was then joined by other ministers and staff of the Ministry of Health among others for a short march around Victoria with banners depicting messages aimed at encouraging people to enjoy a healthy festive season.

During the open day, members of the public had the chance to learn about the career opportunities in the health sector, know more about the ambulance, dental, pharmaceutical and rehabilitation services among many others.

Those who wanted to have a screening test could do so and could also get advice on how to get fit and healthy.
