PUC’s chief executive Philippe Morin said this in an interview with the media yesterday morning at the power station at Huteau Lane.

Mr Morin said as from 7am on Sunday electricity supply will be disconnected in the northern part of Mahe such as Beau Vallon, Glacis, North East Point and other areas in the north and places like St Louis and surrounding areas will be off supply from 7am to 12 noon.

In the town area, electricity supply will be disconnected for about 15 to 30 minutes from 7am to 8am and then from 11am to 12 noon.

He called on members of the public to be cooperative as it is important for the PUC to carry out this test during the short period of time possible.

“We have chosen to do it on a Sunday morning because most businesses are closed and we are not doing it at night for security reasons,” said Mr Morin.

He added that the tests on the wind turbines are going on well.
