The agreement, which will explore avenues of cooperation in the field of cultural exchanges, art teaching, academic research, travelling and exhibition, will be signed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Fujian Vocational College of Art.

A delegation comprising the President of Fujan Vocational College of Art, Qi Jianhua, the director of the school and senior instructor of bamboo flute Feng Wei, and the director of the secretary general office Lu Xu, were in Seychelles to hold discussion with representatives of the National Conservatoire of Performing Arts and Miera Savy, the director of international cooperation within the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

The Fujian Vocational College of Art is the only public higher educational institute in China providing full-time art programmes with the purpose of cultivating talents.

In 2005, the college was selected to visit six north African countries for artistic exchange and making performances. Since then the college has extensively established cooperation with several artistic institutes including the Mahatma Ghandi Institute in Mauritius.

During its visit to Seychelles, the delegation visited cultural sites and institutions such as the National Natural Museum and met Seychelles’ famous painters Nigel Henry and Alcide Libanotis at the Eden Art Gallery.

The delegation also handed over a donation of bamboo flutes to the traditional music class conducted by Patrick ‘Ton Pat’ Prosper.
