Letter to the Editor-Save our home gardens |15 January 2013

Unfortunately, for the past five years white flies have been creating havoc in those gardens to the extent that home gardeners have been discouraged to carry on with the practice.
 
The ministry responsible for agriculture should get the expertise to deal with this problem as soon as possible.
I recall a few years ago a disease called ‘melitoma’ which was attacking our coconut trees. At that time, the Ministry of Agriculture took immediate action to save our coconuts.

It is with this same vigour and promptness that the ministry should save our home gardens if we are to achieve food security.
