Prison warden dismissed for drinking alcohol on duty |16 January 2013

Following the report, an investigation of the incident was conducted which has led to the dismissal of the officer concerned.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Transport has reiterated that it has a zero tolerance policy with regard to the use of alcohol while on duty, especially when considering the sensitivity of the role and responsibilities that prison officers have.

In its strategic five-year plan, which was communicated to the public, the prison administration had stressed that raising the standards of its officers and improving the training regime was of high importance.
 
It will continue to work towards further professionalism and exemplary conduct by its staff, while providing for further training and career enhancement possibilities.
