Additional bus services for carnival |06 February 2013

The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) has said it will be making more buses available to complement its normal bus schedule for the benefit of those planning to come and watch this coming weekend’s carnival.

On Friday February 8, other than the special circular night services that operate from the Victoria bus terminal at 8.30pm, additional buses will leave the terminal at 1am and will run along the main routes. Its frequency will be based on public demand.

On Saturday February 9, additional bus services will operate on the following routes – Baie Lazare via La Misère, Baie Lazare via Les Canelles, Baie Lazare via Takamaka, Port Launay via La Misère, Port Launay via Les Canelles, Les Canelles, Anse Aux Pins, Anse Boileau via Mont Plaisir, Anse Boileau via Montagne Posée, and Port Launay via Sans Souci – from 10am to 7pm.

The fact that Albert Street and Francis Rachel Street will be closed as from 1pm on Saturday, all buses serving the southern, eastern and western regions will drop off and pick up passengers at the Mont Fleuri school campus until the roads re-open later during the day.

However, during the day, the last buses will leave the Victoria bus terminal at 12.30pm and will run along their respective routes.

As for the north region, all buses heading towards Glacis via Anse Etoile will make a U-turn at Bel Ombre and return via the same route to the Victoria bus terminal.

As for buses heading to Victoria via the Beau Vallon/St Louis routes, they will turn at the ex-Vines shop on Revolution Avenue.

There will also be additional bus service which will operate according to demand.

At the end of the activities on Saturday, buses will leave the Victoria bus terminal at 1am and will run along main routes. All late night bus fares will be R8.

On Sunday February 10, there will also be additional bus services to the Victoria bus terminal, which will run alongside the normal bus schedule.

Additional buses will serve the main routes as of 9.30am and will operate as per demand.
After the activity, the last buses will leave the Victoria terminal at 7pm and will, once again, serve the main routes.
