Airtel joins in fund collection for disaster victims |07 February 2013

As part of its corporate social responsibility campaign, Airtel will be launching a short message service (SMS) campaign similar to the one held last year prior to the Dreams show.

This collection drive which started yesterday will run until February 10.  Both post paid as well as prepaid customers will be able to send an SMS with the key word DRF to the shortcode 9689. They will be charged the premium SMS rate which is R3.

Once the campaign is over, Airtel will contribute the same amount raised and this will be handed over to the National Disaster Relief Fund.

Meanwhile, following the disruptions across several areas during the recent storm, Airtel Seychelles has also taken into consideration various comments by the public. They are of the view that people who had no access to a radio or TV could have been advised of road closures, flooding etc through text messages.  Airtel said it will be working closely with the Divisions of Risk and Disaster Management to broadcast such messages should the need arise in the future.
