DBS brings cheer to young and old

The variety of donated items which come from the Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS) were handed over yesterday to the owner of the day care centre Maylinda Fanchette and to residents of the Au Cap home.

Handing over the donations at Au Cap home …

The bank’s chief executive Roger Toussaint, accompanied by several members of staff, visited the two places and distributed the gifts.

Mr Toussaint said the bank took the initiative to lend a hand at the day care and Au Cap home after seeing the damages after the recent bad weather which hit the eastern part of Mahé.

He added that it is also a good way for the bank to mark its 35th anniversary, which it is celebrating today.
Donated items at the day care centre include folded beds, toys, mattresses, water dispenser, fans, chairs for children and a variety of educational materials among others.

Mrs Fanchette said she had to close the day care centre for a week to clean up and repair damages done.

She thanked DBS for the donation which she said will be of great benefit to the children.

At the Au Cap home a short ceremony was organised for the presentation of the donation. Present were chief executive of the Social Protection Agency Wallace Cosgrow and deputy chief executive Marcus Siméon and director for elderly homes Anne-Marie Mathiot.

The residents received fans, cookware sets, kettles, sets of cups and glasses, paint and a variety of food items among others.
