All school council chairpersons were invited to the first meeting for 2013 chaired by the Minister for Education, Macsuzy Mondon. Other senior management officials also attended the meeting.

Topics on the agenda included namely changes at ministry level, curriculum issues, ministry campaigns, and evaluation of school councils.

This special meeting is also part of the ministry’s efforts to remain closely connected with its partners and the community. It presented an opportunity to discuss various education matters and also to hear the views of the school council chairpersons.

Apart from providing a platform for discussion and obtaining feedback, information shared will place each school council chairperson in a better position to begin their plan of work for 2013.

Introduced in 2010 as part of the Education Reform 2009/2010, school councils are entering their third year of existence. Hence they will be undertaking an evaluation to find out how best to improve their operation.
