Local saxophonist Jean Quatre blazes the trail |07 March 2013

The official launch of the album took place last Friday at the National Theatre in the presence of the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange and other officials from his ministry, chief executive of the National Arts Council (Nac) Jimmy Savy, local artists and friends.

Among the artists whose songs Jean has interpreted through the mystifying sounds of his saxophone include Patrick Victor, David Scholastique, Jany De Létourdie, Golty Farabeau, Jean Ally, Simon Amade, John Wirtz and Francois Havelock.

Some of the songs featuring on the album are Patrick Victor’s Mon Bizou, Redanmsyon, Golty Farabeau’s Nou pou fer lanmour, David Scholastique’s Portre ou zoli portre and Jean Ally’s Ou souvenir, among others.

Speaking at the launch, Jean said it has not been an easy project to work on and is now dedicating this CD to all Seychellois.

Mr Savy congratulated the saxophonist and described the album as unique and one with a difference.

Patrick Victor, who is the artist with most tracks on the album, said Jean has made history in Seychelles with this album and congratulated the saxophonist and Nac for a job well done.

Jean presented a copy of his CD to Mr St Ange, who in turn promised to help the artist promote his work internationally.

Those present at the launch were able to sit back and relax as Jean performed some of the ballads on the album.

The CD costs R125 and is on sale on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
