Cayole family start to rebuild burned house |12 March 2013

They said engineers earlier told them the foundation was still good but the walls had to be brought down.

Josta Marie and Kent Pierre told Nation the Ministry of Land Use and Housing has given them a fresh loan, but they still need to repay for the one they took from the Housing Finance Company for the house that burned down.

“Since we are renting a bedsitter at R3,000 we are at the moment not able to pay back the older loan so the interest is building up, but we hope to quickly rebuild our home so we can repay the loans,” they said, putting August 2013 as a possible completion date.

A man was arrested on suspicion of stealing from, and burning the family’s house but he is still on remand and his case is pending before the court.
